The University of Auckland, one of the leading universities in the Pacific, has once again confirmed that, in its judgment, an ‘Atenisi Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is equivalent to a B.A. or B.S. degree at the University of Auckland. The announcement means that, upon unconditional admission to a UA postgraduate programme, an ‘Atenisi graduate may commence postgraduate study without having to complete a fourth year of undergraduate study.

In conversation this past summer with UA’s Faculty of Arts, both schools evaluated the performance of recent ‘Atenisi graduates Tevita Manu’atu at Northern Illinois University in suburban Chicago, ‘Okusitino Tae at the University of the Ryukyus on Okinawa, and Salise Faiva’ilo at the University of Wroclaw in Poland. According to ‘Atenisi dean Michael Horowitz, the UA Arts Faculty was “understandably impressed with the ability of our graduates to consistently succeed in diverse academic environments around the world.” In a recent e-message to UA, ‘Atenisi’s institute director Sisi’uno Helu pledged to “maintain our university’s demanding academic standards, even at the expense of popularity.”
